On the initiative of Peace Dialogue NGO, a public discussion entitled Prospect took place on 10-11 April, 2021. The purpose of the meeting was to promote public discourse on possible ways of overcoming the challenges of security, human rights protection and democracy in the newly-created situation as a result of the 44-day war. From a long-term perspective, the event was aimed at shaping a realistic vision of the future with the involvement of various public groups based on critical and self-critical analysis of lessons from the past and the present.

We call your attention to an informational video made specifically for conscripts, which tells about the right to refrain from torture and degrading treatment during military service, the state’s obligations to ensure the right, as well as possible actions that should be taken to prevent violation of the right.

This report is devoted to the monitoring of the implementation of the defense sector-related actions in the period from January 1 to December 31, 2020.

Peace Dialogue NGO announces its readiness to support protection of conscripts’ rights during 2020 winter conscription for the purpose of avoiding issues raised in the process of ensuring comprehensiveness, completeness, and objectivity of the significant factual circumstances with regard to conscripts’ health condition in the course of 2020 winter conscription.

On 8-10 August 2020, Peace Dialogue NGO conducted a-three-day training entitled CIVIL SOCIETY SUPPORT FOR DEMOCRATIC OVERSIGHT PROCESSES OF HUMAN RIGHTS CONDITIONS IN THE ARMENIAN ARMY. The meeting was aimed at building capacity of the representatives from civil society organizations operating in the Republic of Armenia’s regions and Yerevan city in the field of human rights monitoring, thus seeking to establish a public group for monitoring the defense-sector related activities in the scope of the Action Plan 2020-2022 deriving from the National Strategy on Human Rights Protection (HRAP 2020-2022).

Below, we introduce the progress report on monitoring of the defense sector-related actions in the scope of the HRAP 2020-2022, in which we sum up the research results of the implemented activities in the period of January-June 2020 for the promotion of the rights to life, freedom from torture, and fair trial in the RA Armed Forces.

On 4 June 2020, the representatives of the National Assembly’s Standing Committees on Defense and Security and Protection on Human Rights and Public Affairs hosted the staff of Peace Dialogue NGO’s project called Civil Society Support for Democratic Oversight Processes of Human Rights Conditions in the Armenian Army.
