In the interview at New Armenia, Edgar Khachatryan referred to the factors that will contribute to the combat capability of the army: “On the one hand, it’s a good tendency that the budget of the sector (defense) increases; on the other hand, we should ask whether only the budget increase can raise the combat capability of the army.”
“The increase of the budget can contribute to the increase of the army’s combat capability, but this is not a sufficient factor.” Edgar Khachatryan.
It’s crucial to choose the right security system:
“I don’t think that the security system which we have now ensures the security of Armenia. Therefore, let’s also consider the security system that we anticipate for the near future. Today, we are witnessing how Russian army displays its capacities in Ukraine. It means, we need an army operating by a different logic and philosophy.”
