At the beginning of 2020, Peace Dialogue NGO became involved in the activities of National multi-stakeholder platform on democratic security sector oversight. The platform, which is an advisory body to the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the Armenian National Assembly, was officially launched on 27 February 2020. Aiming to promote democratic-civilian oversight of the security sector in Armenia, the platform brings together representatives of government agencies operating in the security sector, oversight bodies, and civil society organizations.

The function of the Secretariat of the Platform will be run by the Security Council Office of Armenia (SC). It is envisaged that in the upcoming two years, the platform’s activities will be aimed at resolving issues related to constitutional reforms, as well as reforms in the law enforcement system and the defense sector.

The platform is supported by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Within the framework of the cooperation program of the Republic of Armenia and the OSCE, the OSCE Secretariat, in cooperation with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), will provide political and advisory assistance to ensure the effective operation of the platform.
