On 23-24 October 2020, Peace Dialogue NGO, in cooperation with the Ministries of Justice and Defense, convened a public discussion on Implementation of Defense Sector-Related Actions in the Scope of 2020-2022 Action Plan Deriving from Armenia’s National Strategy for Human Rights Protection.

On 7 October, 2021, pursuant to the decision made on the administrative case No. VD/1362/05/18, 2,520,157 AMD (App. 5,000 USD) was confiscated from the RA Ministry of Defense in favor of the citizen A.S. through compulsory enforcement.

During the 2-day workshop, the trainers arrived from Germany, Marina Grasse and Andrea Zemskov-Zuege, introduced to the participants a number of tools and methodologies in the direction of identifying community issues and needs as well empowering young people in their communities. On the last day of the meeting, with the support of the trainers and project team, the participants developed small initiatives that they will implement in the course of the upcoming 2-3 months.

On 3-5 September, 2021 Peace Dialogue NGO conducted Open Narratives: Fostering Critical Conversation on Social and Political Impacts of the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict three-day course. The event was aimed at developing and improving methodology for promoting public dialogue on the root causes of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the impacts and ways of overcoming the crisis in the region as a result of the 44-day war.

Within the framework of the monitoring, Peace Dialogue NGO focused specifically on monitoring the implementation of human rights protection activities in the Armed Forces, in particular, the actions concerning the right to life in the armed forces, the prohibition of torture, the right to a fair trial, as well as activities related to women’s rights in the context of the equality and prohibition of discrimination. This report is based on the results of the monitoring of the implementation of defense sector-related actions in the period from January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021.

Since the adoption on 9 November 2020 of the ceasefire statement by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia, the Azerbaijani aggression along the border with Armenia has not ceased. Azerbaijani armed forces have illegally invaded into and positioned themselves inside Armenia’s sovereign territory, regularly shooting at several Armenian towns and villages, disturbing the inhabitants’ peace and daily lives, posing a real threat to the life and health of the civilian population, inflicting harm to their property, attempting to illegally detain civilians, threatening with firearms, stealing livestock, and committing a number of other criminal acts.

On 19-23 July 2021, in cooperation with its partners Une Terre Culturelle Association and German-French Youth Office, Peace Dialogue NGO implemented a five-day youth project under the title Journalism Without Borders. The goal of the project was to introduce young people representing Armenia, Germany and France to modern journalism, a number of social media tools, as well as to address the existing issues and challenges in the field and discuss ways of overcoming them.
