Capacity Building
Imaginary Narratives as Path to Resolve Real Conflicts
This course, which ran from October 13 to November 27, was aimed to enhance conflict resolution skills among the youth in the northern regions of Armenia by fostering a constructive approach and developing their capacity to find real and rational solutions to conflict situations on daily bases.
Peace Dialogue NGO intends to implement follow-up initiatives in the future. Currently, a manual is being developed summarising the techniques and tools applied to analyse the stories discussed during the course, as well as the methodology employed. Using the manual as a guide, Peace Dialogue will organise a training of trainers in the near future which will give the young participants an opportunity to conduct similar courses among their peers by applying the same tools and techniques.

The ARENA-project created a safe space for dialogue, mutual learning and ongoing educational activities for a group of participants who are motivated to work on suitable and sustainable strategies for community-based peace building.

The History-Theatre Workshop in Tbilisi
Collective memory gives people a sense of belonging. History helps to explain the world. A shared view of history can motivate people to take action that changes the future. Three Stories in One Film
“As a result, we have three short films: ‘Me,’ ‘Choice’ and ‘The Dreamers’ that were combined into one film entitled ‘To be young in…,’” said Edgar Khachatryan, the President of Peace Dialogue. All three films talk about the issues that relate to young people.
ME AND MY STORY
According to PD staff, supporting young people to gain skills in documentary filmmaking and interactive theater will, first, give them an opportunity to face manipulations of history by sharing their stories with their peers and, second, have a contribution in shaping a history based on the memories of average people.PD՛s partner organization, CMI, provided each group with cameras and equipment. In this phase, the project aims to develop a youth movement for peace in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict region and simultaneously develop a critical view of history among the participants and a perception that they have an important role in shaping a collective memory.
