For already two weeks Peace Dialogue NGO has been implementing a research within its Safe Soldiers for a Safe Armenia project. The research is aimed at studying the political and civic attitudes and values among young people. Furthermore, according to the project staff, the aim of the research is to not only observe and record the attitudes of young people towards current political processes in Armenia and in the region. It is more interesting to reveal the interconnection between young people’s political or civic perceptions and their attitude towards security, human rights and democracy issues in Armenia.
The research contains numerous thematic questions regarding the developments in the military, political and civic fields in Armenia, as well as developments related to the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Focus groups and surveys are being organized in Lori, Tavush, Ghegharkunik, and Syunik regions of Armenia, as well as in Yerevan city among young people aged 18-25 who are residing in cities and villages.
The analysis prepared based on the surveys will be published by the end of the year. It will be available at the organization’s website and will be spread within the networks of partner organizations. In addition, according to the project staff, the research will serve as a basis for further development of PD’s strategy in the areas of human rights, democracy, security, and peace building.
