We are pleased to announce the release of our new methodological guide, “Eight Simple Tools for Dealing with Difficult Conflicts“. Developed by Peace Dialogue NGO, this manual is based on the methodology used in the series of “Alternative Mechanisms for Conflict Resolution” courses, which took place from October 13 to November 27, 2022. The aim of the course was to enhance conflict resolution skills among the youth in the northern regions of Armenia by fostering a constructive approach and developing their capacity to find realistic and rational solutions to conflict situations on a daily basis.
As a key component of its project on conflict resolution, Peace Dialogue invited author Gnel Hakobyan to develop a series of thought-provoking short stories. These stories were presented to participants without an ending, with the aim of stimulating critical thinking and inspiring them to develop their own unique solutions based on the information and assumptions discussed.
During the course, trainer Hayk Toroyan provided the participants with a toolkit to help them thoroughly analyse the conflicts presented. These tools enabled the young participants to consider the conflicting parties, their relations, the stages of conflict development, and the potential outcomes at each stage of the conflict dynamics. These and many other topics were covered during the six meetings in the scope of the project.
To implement follow-up initiatives in the future, Peace Dialogue decided to develop this manual. It includes a summary of the short stories and toolkits that were discussed and analysed during the course. It provides a clear and concise outline of the tools and techniques designed for conflict resolution to help young people who are taking their first steps in the field of conflict resolution. Our aim is to enable young people to use this manual to organise and implement similar courses among their peers, promoting conflict resolution strategies and building more peaceful societies.
Peace Dialogue is committed to promoting peaceful conflict resolution and building the capacity of young people to become skilled peace practitioners. To this end, Peace Dialogue is excited to offer training for young people who are interested in conflict resolution and peacebuilding and are eager to use the methodology presented in the manual for initiating similar work with other groups.
Peace Dialogue is excited to invite young peace practitioners to participate in their special training for trainers. In addition, participants who complete the course will receive a certificate and a small financial support to help them to come up with and implement their own initiatives.
