On 15 December, Edgar Khachatryan, President of Peace Dialogue NGO gave an interview to Factor TV. The key points discussed during the interview were related to most relevant issues in the field of state governance and defense capacity issues which are one of the biggest challenges that Armenia is facing, especially after the recent military violence.
Edgar Khachatryan expressed his concerns about the destructive consequences of corruption, impunity, and deficient operation of judicial system which for a long time have caused and are still causing serious security threats for the country.
In his answers, he also emphasized the emergency of developing institutionalized preventive mechanisms responsible for security and defense-related issues,
“Our authorities have many shortcomings, but one of the obvious shortcomings is the lack of a systemic approach. In other words, partial solutions are given to problems. When they see the problem, they run there, then another problem comes out, they run there. I can see that. No, I don’t mean that they do not speak out about problems, but so far no problem has found a solution in a systematic way”.
