In recent decades, thanks to the advancement of innovative technologies, people have more access and interest in political and social developments. Journalism and social media have become an indispensable part of this process by striving to constantly offer new creative approaches in order to satisfy the information hunger of their audience. However, the unlimited nature of the digital world and journalism may often cause a number of issues such as hate speech, fake news, and manipulation, which leads to distortion of public perceptions; thus becoming a topic of discussion in social and political debates raising the question

does  journalism need boundaries?

Peace Dialogue NGO, in collaboration with its partners Une Terre Culturelle association and German-French Youth Office, launches the initiative entitled Journalism without Borders which is aimed at the promotion of youth participation in social-political decision-making process through applying democratic instruments.

In the scope of the project, three national groups consisting of 16-25 year old young people representing Armenia, Germany, and France will be formed. Participants interested in journalism will take part in a three-day intercultural exchange workshop in the month of July during which they will discuss the aforementioned issues existing in digital world and will take a look at the history and development of press work in different countries.

The project will also give the participants the opportunity to share information about their cultures and jointly hold creative activities, as well as discussions of topics and issues in which they are interested, with the help of online tools.

Due to current worldwide COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the intercultural exchange meetings will be organized online.

The participants representing Armenia will gather together at Peace Dialogue NGO office (Vanadzor city, st. Myasnikyan 12-/40) and will connect with other national groups via online tools to participate in workshops in parallel.

For participating in the exchange project, interested young people can apply by submitting their CV and a brief motivation letter (200 words max.) to the email: [email protected].

Applications are accepted until 15 July 2020 and only successful candidates will be contacted.
