Berlin-based Deutsch-Russischer Austausch DRA/ ДРА recently published a methodological guide entitled Application of Techniques of Theater of the Oppressed in Peacebuilding Activities. The methodological guide was published within the framework of the international project “Overcoming the Consequences of War Together”, developed and implemented by the German non-governmental organization, Deutsch-Russischer Austausch (DRA/ДРА), in cooperation with seven non-governmental (social/public) organizations from five countries: Armenia, Georgia, Germany, Russia (North Caucasus) and Ukraine. The project received financial support from the German Foreign Office. One of the partner organizations in the project is Peace Dialogue NGO, whose president Edgar Khachatryan authored the methodological guide.
The publication was primarily created to support the staff of organizations working in the field of peacebuilding; it shows them how to apply theater tools in their work. It places emphasis on the analysis of the effectiveness of some tools depending on work context, group interests and the outlook or views of activity beneficiaries. The material can serve as a resource for all persons interested in peacebuilding and the Theater of the Oppressed. Besides this, the manual may also be helpful for those who are taking their first steps in developing peacebuilding projects.
You can download the methodological guide, in PDF format, in Russian (and soon in Ukrainian) here.
