The purpose of the conference is to analyse different experiences in the implementation of UN Resolution 1325, as well as to understand the needs of local actors.

• in peace processes, conflict transformation strategies and reconciliation work.
• in the development of democratic societies in post-conflict regions.
• in the training and deployment of military and civil personnel in intervention countries.
Participants will identify examples of “Good Practice” and “Lessons Learnt”. The programme will also provide a forum for the diverse views of the actors involved including local and foreign NGOs, foundations, international security personnel and government organisations. Recommendations for political negotiations and strategies will also be developed in order to answer the question: What are the needs and aims of local organisations and how can German institutions support them? This conference will generate an atmosphere of meaningful dialogue rich in its diversity:
• At an international level between civil society representatives from the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus and Germany
• At the German level, between representatives of civil society, government organisations, foundations and academic organizations
• At the national and international level between military and civil personnel, together with their target groups abroad
Peace Dialogue NGO will present to participants its experience on working towards the involvement of the gender perspective and to the stimulation of participation of the civil society to decision-making in peace processes; Peace Dialogue NGO will also discuss the obstacles and difficulties encountered during its work and present its proposals on possible improvements.
