TV PROGRAM ON “GENDER AND GENDER EQUALITY” – HELD ON MIG TV

Edgar Khachatryan, the director of “Peace Dialogue” NGO, was the guest of
“Gender and Gender equality” program within the framework of the TV project “Our rights” on Vanadzor’s “MIG-TV” on April 14, 2010. The aim of “Our rights” project, which is being implemented within the framework of the German Marshall Foundation’s “Black Sea regional co-operation” project, is to increase the level of Vanadzor citizen’s legal awareness towards human rights by informing people. The guests of the live broadcast, along with project’s experts, are trying to represent to the TV audience the idea of Gender, its connection with human rights and democracy, and its influence on social and political developments in Armenia.

ONE DAY WITH MY FRIENDS: THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY WAS CELEBRATED IN VANADZOR

Vanadzor youth has celebrated the international youth day on August 11 in the Vanadzor State Theater named after H. Abelyan with a photo exhibition and a concert. This was the first time that this holiday was celebrated so significantly in Vanadzor; more than five hundred people participated in the photo exhibition and in the concert. The preparatory activities for this project were started by Peace Dialogue NGO with the support of the NGO’s board members, NGO OWEN in Germany, and from individual contributions from German citizens. From May 2010, more than forty young people were participants in the photo contest and representative of music bands in Vanadzor were involved in the organization.

SCREENINGS AND DISCUSSIONS OF ARMENIAN-AZERI JOINT DOCUMENTARIES TO BE ORGANIZED

Peace Dialogue NGO is planning to organize several screenings and discussions of a documentary prepared with the financial support of the Eurasia Partnership Foundation. After participation in the “Principles and Criteria of Conflict Reporting” training course organized by the Eurasia Partnership Foundation in February of 2009, aimed to improving the capacities of journalists for reporting on current developments in the Armenian-Azeri conflict, Vahagn Antonyan, a member of Peace Dialogue, together with his partner from Azerbaijan Asef Aliyev - director of Military Patriotic Programs of AZ TV - created the script of a documentary called “Neither War nor Peace.”

KUTAISI HOSTS ARMENIAN, AZERBAIJANI, AND ABKHAZ YOUTH

“The Role of Youth from the South Caucasus in Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts: Possibilities of Participation” youth seminar was held in Kutaisi on the 1st and 2nd of May by the Sukhumi Foundation. The aim of the seminar was to actively involve youth in peace building processes. The seminar was organized with the support of OMNIBUS 1325 International Peacebuilding Network and was one of several seminars organized by the network within the framework of peace building issues within the region.

The screening discussion of the documentary “Neither War nor Peace” was organized by Peace Dialogue NGO for Zangakatun charitable foundation’s Zangak social service center’s beneficiaries on August 27. The previous screening discussion of Peace Dialogue member Vahagn Antonyan and his Azerbaijani colleague Asef Guliev from AzTV was held in “Crossing Roads” NGO on August 2. Several participants of “One day with my friends” project of Peace Dialogue also attended the discussion in Zangak, who had been actively involved in the discussion and shared together with the Zangak beneficiaries their emotions and thoughts after seeing the documentary. 
The screening discussion of the documentary “Neither War nor Peace” made by Vahagn Antonyan from Peace Dialogue and his Azeri colleague Asef Guliyev from AzTV was held on August 2 at Crossing Roads NGO in Vanadzor. The screening was organized by the initiative of Crossing Roads NGO for the group of young leaders who are the beneficiaries of this NGO. The editorial team of the documentary, the staff of Peace Dialogue NGO, and one of the characters of the documentary, Razmik Madaryan were present at the screening. 
In the framework of Peace Dialogue's 3 year strategy “See Who We Are, Choose Who We Want To Be”, on July 1st of 2010 in Vanadzor the photo content “One day with my friends” was launched. The project aimed to stimulate interest in peace building activism among the community youth through organization of activities designed to empower them for further activities in mobilizing their peers in the community. The goals of the project are to study the interests, potential, and concerns of Vanadzor youth from their photos and to provide a space for them for creative self-realization and further involvement in the activities of Peace Dialogue NGO. 
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, accompanied by his wife and representatives of the Russian government, arrived in Yerevan on August 19 on a state visit to cement the Russo-Armenian military alliance with a new defence agreement. During his visit he also took part in unofficial summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
